Forest, Field & Sky: Art Out of Nature

Forest, Field & Sky: Art Out of Nature focuses on a personal and grand concept of art, artist, artwork, and nature.

The film is centered on still life and artists’ compositions of scenes from nature. In order to restore the link between man and the ground, Dr. James Fox traveled across six landscapes in Great Britain. For each of them, there is a careful consideration of what the artist wanted to convey and a great respect for the emotion that is being portrayed.

One of the exceptional artist pieces here is David Nash’s Ash Dome, which is stationary in a protected place near Snowdonia. The living sculpture, which was planted in 1977, is erected in it. An example of the circle, which took forty years, is demonstrated to be made of twenty-two ash tree trunks. Overhead, a dome of the leaves and branches gives protection from the sun. It also includes stone sculptures by Andy Goldsworthy and sky spaces by James Turrell.
